BEACHES

Here are my family’s favorite beaches. Many, like Jan Thiel, Caracasbaai, or Directors Baai, are favorites because they’re close by, while the others are simply spectacular! Klein Kenepa was our older daughters’ favorite for many years, Cas Abao is beautiful and family-friendly, and the rest of the beaches listed here have been part of our life on this beautiful island of Curaçao! Hopefully, our tastes match ;-)

Jan Theil Beach / Papagayo Beach

This first part from their website says it all: "Jan Thiel Beach is where unforgettable experiences unfold, creating cherished memories for all." And they’re absolutely right! It’s also one of the best places to enjoy the stunning Curaçao sunsets and the top spot for a Saturday happy hour!

Mambo Beach

When we moved to this island in the early 2000s, we once heard that if you come to the island and don't go to Mambo, it's like you never came... Now, Mambo is more than just a beach.

Beach bars, restaurants to satisfy every craving, and stylish shops showcasing the latest beach trends—you’ll find it all on Mambo Beach Boulevard.

Cas Abao Beach

Located on the northwestern coast of the island, in the area we call 'Banda Abou.' The road to the beach is unpaved but easily manageable for any car. You’re welcome to bring your own cooler with food and drinks, but if you’d rather pack light, no worries! Cas Abao has a beach bar for quick snacks and drinks, and now they also offer lunch at their brand-new restaurant.

Shower and restroom facilities are conveniently located right next to the bar.

Playa Kenepa Chiki

Located on the western side of the island (Banda Abou), between the villages of Westpunt and Lagún, just a 59-minute drive from TuKas.221, you'll discover a small, beautiful beach tucked into a rocky bay. There are only a few facilities, with parking conveniently right next to the beach.

This beach is famous for snorkeling, thanks to its clear, warm, and calm waters. It’s no surprise that it was my daughter’s favorite!

Playa Kenepa Grandi

Also located on the northwestern coast of the island (Banda Abou), Kenepa Grandi it is known for its white sandy beaches, stunning crystal-clear blue waters, and beautiful vistas overlooking the beach—perfect for a picture.

Playa Kalki

It’s also known as "Alice in Wonderland" because of its mushroom-shaped coral formations. The name comes from the local Papiamentu word for the white coral rock and limestone, which are abundant on the beach and the surrounding cliffs.

This beach is also located in the 'Banda Abou' area.

Director's Bay

Once a private beach reserved for Shell’s directors and even the Dutch Royal family. When Shell left in 1985, the beach became open to everyone. Nestled between the famous Tugboat wreck and Small Wall, it’s a perfect spot for divers, snorkelers, and beach lovers alike!

Playa Piskadó

Playa Piskado is famous for its turtles, but it offers much more. While it may not be one of the most picturesque beaches in Curaçao, it’s undoubtedly one of the best spots for diving and snorkeling.
